Welcome to Planly

Planly is your family's command centre - designed to help you organise calendars, tasks, chores, meals, and more, all in one place. This guide will help you get started and make the most of Planly's features.

Getting Started

Creating Your Account

1. Visit planly.app/signup
2. Enter your name, email, and create a password
3. Or sign up quickly with Google
4. Verify your email address to activate your account

Setting Up Your Household

1. After logging in, you'll be prompted to create your household
2. Give your household a name (e.g., "The Smith Family")
3. Set your timezone
4. Invite family members using the invite code

Calendar Features

Views

• Overview: Dashboard showing overdue, today, upcoming, and recurring events
• Day: Detailed view of a single day
• Week: 7-day view with time slots
• Month: Traditional monthly calendar view

Creating Events

1. Click the + button or tap on any day/time
2. Enter event title, date, and time
3. Choose a colour to categorise
4. Set recurrence for repeating events (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly)
5. Click Save

Managing Events

• Click on any event to view or edit details
• Mark events as complete by ticking the checkbox
• Delete events from the event modal
• Drag and drop events to reschedule (coming soon)

Tasks & Chores

Task Management

• Create one-off or recurring tasks
• Assign tasks to household members
• Set due dates and priorities
• Track completion status

Chore Rotation

• Set up chores with automatic rotation
• Assign to specific family members
• Track who's done what
• Get reminders when chores are due

Meal Planning

Planning Meals

1. Go to Meals from the menu
2. Click on a day to add a meal
3. Choose meal type (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack)
4. Add recipe notes or links
5. Automatically generate grocery lists

Grocery Lists

Managing Your List

• Add items manually or from meal plans
• Organise by category
• Check off items while shopping
• Share lists with family members

Family Sharing

Inviting Family Members

1. Go to Settings
2. Find your household invite code
3. Share the code with family members
4. They can join by entering the code during signup

Viewing Family Events

• Toggle between "Mine" and "Family" views
• See all family members' events colour-coded
• Filter by specific family member

Pomodoro Timer

Use the built-in timer for focused work:

1. Click the play button on any event
2. Set work duration
3. Get notifications when time is up
4. Track your focus sessions

Mobile App

Planly works as a Progressive Web App (PWA):

Installing on iPhone/iPad

1. Open Planly in Safari
2. Tap the Share button
3. Select "Add to Home Screen"
4. Tap "Add"

Installing on Android

1. Open Planly in Chrome
2. Tap the menu (three dots)
3. Select "Add to Home Screen"
4. Tap "Add"
